Splitting of the Heavens

Splitting of the Heavens

A Poem by John Stussy
"

About a storm I witnessed a few nights ago, half the sky was storm, half was serene, clear starlit sky with the moon shining above.

"

Crashing of thunderheads

Letting loose on the earth

Flash violently, slashing,

Burning the ground.

The rage of the heavens

Is wrought upon us,

Destroying the land

With vehement flash-fire.

Yet it’s not

Quite complete.

The soft edge

Of battle-hardened clouds

Is the border

Of the nightmaric chaos.

The gems of the sky

Twinkle in innocence,

Their reassurance omnipresent

On this night of destruction.

All is not lost,

For Earth isn’t hidden

From the eyes of God.

Serene Heavens slumber above.

The splitting of the heavens

On our mortal world.

wow, the way you split up the viewpoints both in spacing and font blows my mind. And the imagery, such as "flash-fire", "battle-hardened clouds", and "reassurance omnipresent" those phrases alone drew me in and made me re-read them just to get the mental picture they evoke. This one is brilliant, I enjoyed every line!!! well done, my friend!

Wow the imagery is perfect!!
Ur words pop out of the screen as pictures as if I'm there!!
The flow is amazing & I love how u changed the font for different stanzas!!

This was so amazing when you read this aloud to me and my mom. You are ...superb to say the least.

First off, great imagery.. It's like I can see it with my own two eyes. Second, I love your choice in words. You make this seem almost like Judgment Day is coming down upon us.. Yet, like it's only upon half of us that Hell's fury is released. Atleast, that's my take on it.. Although, this storm also reminds me of the way emotions are.. The way you can be so angry with someone, and so happy with them at the same time. Sorry, rambling.. Anywho.. Must've been one hell of a storm, 'cause this is one hell of a poem. I've said it before, I'll say it again: You're an absolute genius!
