A lofty crown
Of blue and green Balances 'Twixt her horns, Sporadic plumage Shows its sheen, A halo For whom it adorns. But this is no angel that I see, Nor saintly sinner smiling. This is a goddess, demanding praise, Manifest poison to which I am slave! Her silken hair tumbles in a stark cascade, The ebony and blood from which her soul is made. I hear her chant Behind her mask, A curse to Cause my suff'ring. She gives to me A murky flask, My darkest dreams All held within. Her one command to me is to drink, Though I gaze upon her living ink. The monsters that coil around her arm Whisper the promise of beautiful harm. They call to my demons, wanting to play, I'll obey and forsake the warm light of day. A sugar cube Disintigrates Just like my soul As I start to fade. Down my throat goes her sweet liquor, And I shall be sane nevermore.
