NormalityA Poem by L.A.If but for a moment, the world was normal...A loud techno song.
Her laugh ringing in my ears. The flashing traffic lights. Green. Yellow. Red. I breathe in everything. The smell of her, the distant scent of the old candy wrappers in the dirty cup holders. Her sister and mom dance like maniacs in the front while she and I do the lawnmower in the backseat. I laugh and lean against her. We stop at a red light. The moon filters in through the darkened windows. Everyone is glowing. Everyone is beautiful. I close my eyes. I wish we could stay at this stoplight forever. No more drama. No more worries. Just...Normal. My heart is warm now. Her majestic voice flows into my ears. I hold onto her more tightly, afraid to let go. Then, suddenly, the light changes to green. The van is lurching forward. The world has started to spin again. And I soon know that we can never go back to perfect. Tomorrow will just be another day, and she will be someone else. © 2011 L.A.Author's Note
