Don Greenlee

A Poem by Holly
"

What a long strange trip it's been. A little hippie adventure in the woods inspired this, but it's also pretty much the only creative thing I've written in like a year so.

"
Circ'ed around a fire
Flowing water by our side
Four smiles glinting widely
Beneath a smoke-filled sky

Small pairs of naked feet
explore the world around
As children from the womb
This harmony we found

Bathing in the river bed
Washing beneath the sun
Splashing cold and comfort
Feeling peace with everyone

Animalistic understanding
A commune without words
A feeling of acceptance
From which there's no return

Words steeped in too much meaning
And in our minds digress
The problems of another age
become our own obsess

No direction, time is useless
God's clock, we build our day
We find out what's important
Beneath the sun and shade

Beauty in it's highest form
We are one with Earth and all
Serenity we've found at last
But now, we must come back

We can't go back
We can't stay here
We'll never go back
This much is clear

Four smiles never fading
In the glazed and darkened eyes
A fire still there burning
Beneath the smoke filled night
