AloneA Poem by HollyA small child in the street alone, unloved yet indiscreet the passerbys they give no token helping not the child broken
At last a man who stops and stares alarmed at blood dried in his hair he takes the boy within his arms and cries out "Son!" "You are not alone you're alive at last I love you more than time could test I'm sorry for all you're pain the cold nights and constant agony Please forgive your father Son give me a chance to right the wrongs done in the past
The young boy shocked into silence pulls away from the man and admires the fineness of the clothes his "father" wears and that the tatters he's almost bare "Father? Who are you to speak? I know not your face or of your grace Why do you talk to me in this fashion? Who are you to me? And why now this passion? You cared not before you do not care now So leave me here and still this doubt"
The faceless man turns and leaves not one tear upon his cheek Our story ends not one word spoken between the father and son now broken
