The RefugeeA Poem by StunnedByGraceCould it be I would be free? Me, a refugee?I was at home in that place, that space Where I once did dwell…that hell Conditioned like a rat standing on a mat Awaiting the next knell of Satan’s bell Though sometimes amused, much abused… Forever lied to, I tried to disguise My inner eyes of contempt Where hidden sorrow lies
Persecution was the institution Whose halls I shuffled through, Drugged with poisonous injections, Infections of rejection and deception’s
woo. Guilt quilted my brain - Inflamed I was with shame… Binding fears and blinding tears… Seduced me, reduced me To one without aim
Jailed…nailed to repetitive feats of
failure Accustomed to it I had grown I knew each room of this prison of
derision, Yet at least it was my home I knew of no key to this dungeon of death, Yet at least it was my own
But, was there another place? Another
space? Another plan? Another land where I could
go? Could it be I would be free? Me, a refugee?! Psychological asylum to another place? Another space? Another plan? Another
land? Could it be I would be free? Me, a refugee?!
Is there a space, a place, a base of
Grace, Where mercy and truth have met together? Where righteousness and peace have
kissed? Where love and salvation trump
condemnation? Where truth wires shut the jaws of lies
and deception? Where peace displaces fears and comfort
replaces tears? Where someone understands my need and I
can trust his lead? Where pardon buries guilt under scarlet
stained silt? Where praise and banquet halls have
razed prison walls? Where might and light ignite each humble
heart abiding there?
Alas! the Secret Place of the Most High, Under the Shadow of the Almighty eye, I now stand fast, safe and free Someone finally rescued me A very rich and undeserving refugee! © 2013 StunnedByGrace |
