Everyone Knows We've Come So FarA Poem by StunnedByGraceWell, not everyone. We drive at ease in
shiny cars Take close up shots of
distant stars. We treat our women just
like men And count our carbs from
one to ten. With silver tongues we
now convey Our words, our thoughts
the proper way. Houses bigger- wallets
fatter - abs tighter Children smarter - morals looser - teeth are whiter. With no more chains to
Puritan past Sex has no limits - we’re free at last. Why, we feed the poor
like never before And curb the rich yet
even more. How far we’ve come with
human rights. We’re wiser now with
brighter lights. Our lifespan now is
longer and longer, New doctors’ pills,
stronger and stronger. The psychologist frees
us, our teachers the best. No need for gentle
Jesus, no need for quiet rest. We now call sin a
sickness and treat it with a pill; Too bad that in the old
days, they thought it was the will!
But
still a few with pride unraveled See
something else on roads less traveled. They
see porn on TV and morals decline And
virtue that’s trampled and mocked by design. They
see fetuses murdered, the mother can chose Without
slightest notion that she and we lose. They
see evil increase and Christians jeered; Jews being slandered, the Bible not feared. They
see bombs exploding madly in the City of Our King And earthquakes groaning with warnings they bring. They
see judges hammered when their faith is bold Called
narrow and intolerant, prejudiced and cold. They
see the Father weeping, as the world enjoys its mirth The
Son of God preparing to revisit planet earth. They
call us to get ready, ‘prepare your hearts this way- Accept the Savior’s mercy, invite Him in today.' © 2013 StunnedByGrace |
