Clay Minds

Clay Minds

Thoughts about the idea of being "normal"

"
Society is a craftsman
Molding our minds, changing the shape of our opinions
You liked that sweater, until society shunned it
You always wore those shoes, till somebody scorned it.

Our thoughts are subjective to society
We are molded into the trend
If you wear those shoes you are not normal
If you think otherwise you are not normal
If your opinion differs you are not normal.

We do things to be labeled as normal
Our minds are clay, bent and molded by society
We don't want to be seen as "different"
We all just want to be normal.

The abnormal, the intractable clay
Seen as useless by society.
But in reality,
They are the only ones who are truly free.

I felt an emotional connection with this poem. A wonderful representation of the limitations and ideals we are bound by. Great read
