Dreams

A Poem by Olando Lucas

DREAMS

If dreams could be realized in a moment, then just maybe at that moment I could conquer my reality.

The unrealistic present day turmoil has taken a grasp on the realistic thoughts of my future endeavors.

Words that used to give breath to deflated lungs are now the needle that penetrates the surface of my soul.

Prayers that used to make a way for a new day have vanished as if to say life does not live here anymore.

Time that used to be considered a commodity has now overwhelmed the non-existence of what I do not have, as if it is the time that we shared a good-bye kiss, then maybe we could relive the days of our youth. Where a child’s wish could be returned, the only wish that they have is just to hold the hand of their dad.

If the bullet that pierced the spot behind his ear could be replaced

The days that seemed to be frozen behind the walls of that state, then just maybe that dream that seems to be no more can be reborn again, and I can live once more.
