Drifting

Drifting

A Poem by Olando Lucas

A Father’s Story: “Drifting"

As I drift alone in this world that has caused me so much pain, the struggles of my past have made me cold in some ways.

Drifting faster through the light of day, no one understands the height of my past. I smile whenever I'm sad. Only the spirit of God has helped me find ways to cope on days when I have no drive.

So, as I drift into these days unknown, even if no one cares for me on this earth, I do know, that my Lord, the Most High, will never leave me, or let my soul die; the tears from my eyes are needed to stop the drought of the well that is called my soul.

So as I drift from sin to a heavenly peace, even if no one loves me, I know My God will always love me. So my blessings will be plentiful and my humble heart will never go weak. The weakness of my addictions has traveled my body, then deposited deep in my mind, only to be brought to the fore front so I can always remember why each day I must survive.

So as I drift away from this lonely place, I will leave behind my weakness for someone else to taste, because my words are just my words, but the taste of my life is so much more. If I tell you how to survive your soul just might go dry, so I will let you taste my tears and pray that you will have many more prosperous days on this earth, so again I pray

I really like this. The ending in particular was brilliantly written.
