Sad Loss

Sad Loss

A Poem by Leah
"

written in middle school for a lost friend

"

A smile formed upon her often saddened face
As she recalled the times they shared
That were gone for all her days.
His laugh,
His smile,
His gentle face.
She was suddenly engulfed by a wave of sadness
As she remembered that he was dead,
At rest.
The process was slow,
One that you would dread.
His bright green eyes dimmed by weakness and fatigue,
Knowing only too well that his life had been swell,
Yet he was now leaving.
The world had taken her love,
Her best friend.
Only to leave her to drown in her own tears.
How cruel and unfair life could be,
Especially to those who were innocent,
Never doing wrong.
She felt so incomplete.
She remembered her friend,
Knowing that she’d reunite with him again
In the end.
