Green

Green

A Poem by Stephanie

Sitting inside, waiting for the right time
To get up out of here
I want to run off to another part of the world; make all my dreams come true
Cause the grass is always greener on the other side
Yet when you reach the another side you look back
And realize the grass you're standing on isn't so green after all
What you thought was greener
Was really an illusion
It's all greener in its own light
But I have lost the light in you the illusion is shattered

Author's Note

Stephanie
A more modern look at the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side" The poem is straight forward, wanting to get away from a current situation to somewhere else you imagine to be better. But when you finally get there, you realize it's the same situation in a different setting and realize the grass isn't as green as you thought it would be. The last line throws a twist, could the poem have been about someone failing?
