Me and my Imagination

Me and my Imagination

A Poem by Tori Waldrup
"

who needs a man when I have my mind?

"
Just me and my imagination,
driving through the snow,
Don't ask me of my destination,
for we have no place to go.

We in and we out,
through winding roads
we up and we down
In the air-chilling bones.

Just me and my thoughts
Thinking what we think,
Thirsting for a greater knowledge,
but not a drop to drink.

We starve ourselves for something simple,
Something we can't seem to find,
So we keep on searching for the answers,
but only the ones we conjure in the mind.

Just me and my imagination,
sitting by the river,
writing by the low illumination,
untouched by the nightly shivers.

We fight against the beasts and burdens,
standing tall at enemy lines,
Too aware of the dangers there
that come with following the blind.

Just me and imagination,
lying in our hammock bed,
swaying soft in each direction,
the words rambling in my head.
