Roller Coaster

Roller Coaster

A Poem by streetrose

His glare a choppy tempest
Striking and retreating
Assured he always knows best
But his victory is fleeting

A bird within a darkened cage
The damsel in his tower
You're forced to bear his outrage
As he clings onto his power

Yet even when you're all but lost
And your heart is broken in twine
Though you keep your fingers crossed
You can't get him off of your mind

You can scarcely imagine
A day without his touch
The light he sparks within you
A roller coaster rush

Well done - you've caught the helplessness of an abusive relationship very well. I think 'twine' (a strong thread) is the wrong word though. Did you mean broken in half or were you mixed up with 'twin' - although that wouldn't rhyme.
I really like it though.
Cheers, Alan

Thank you so much! I meant broken in half, not strong thread. I will be sure to read your writing!
