Fatal FearA Poem by streetrose
Hands shake behind a stone-stiff spine
Smiles fall and shatter Feet retreat slowly along the pavement Stubborn tilt of the chin and clenched jaw She will not let you win that easily Inner doubt and secret turmoil Concrete composure for a feather foundation Denied tears locked into a sequestered vault Words upon an empty page Yet still, you cannot see her For her fatal mask is flawless © 2016 streetrose |
