The Soul Within

The Soul Within

A Poem by streetrose

A hand reaches outward

But a body cowers away

Words are sent for comfort

But ears bow and shake

Eyes look down in compassion

But eyes remain closed in expectancy

Ears wait patiently for an answer

But the mouth stammers meaningless niceties

Arms open to embrace and protect

But hands protect the body from the outside world

Mouth vows to protect and honor

But scars remain and love is lost
