The Strangers

The Strangers

A Chapter by Strawberry
"

The Mayflower arrives on shores anew - a poem.

"

We saw the ship approach across the seas.

On the horizon, it came. God’s wind pushed it to shore.

We watched, amazed. Our children, our wives grew excited.

It was like nothing we had seen before.

It beached. The Mayflower.

Gasps. Celebrations. The white men came.

They stepped off in clothes of black.

Stiff shirts and few supplies.

We lavished them with food, keen to learn,

Eager to explore their culture,

Just as they were keen to know ours.
