I

I

A Poem by Katie B
"

a poem about rejection

"

I undress,
slowly
seductively
alabaster skin exposed.

I give,
freely
wholly
sharing my vulnerability.

I share,
openly
fearlessly
my heart's inner thoughts.

You reject,
carelessly
indifferently
leaving behind the wreckage.

I feel,
shame
embarrassment
retreat to the shadows.

So powerful and beautiful written. Gift of a sweet woman are rare. Man need to cherish those rare times. Your story inside the poem flowed perfect. Leaving us with a sad ending. I hope the retreat was for a short time.

That happens all too often. We open ourselves up completely to another, revealing ourselves in a way that makes us vulnerable as we've never been before, only to have that one reject us. Are we so different from animals, then: meet, mate, and move on.

If only this virtual world were one that allowed for a warm (yet platonic!) hug.

Your open and clear portrayal of being thrown over rings a universal bell. Simple, accessible and saddening it is an all-too-common experience of being available for love.

Your words accent whatever your physical attractiveness may be... making you, it is obvious, truly beautiful.

Thanks for this.
