Worthless

Worthless

A Poem by The Young Lion Last Beat

The working man
sweats for his employers
and loves no one.

I've Cleaned toilets
and scrubbed greasy
pots and pans
for another man
& it was not dignified
but shameful.

I lowered myself
to the soiled ground
of a public restroom
in a resturant to clean
the s**t and piss
of strangers for
eight-dollars and hour
with no hazard pay.
Pathogens were abound
in the grime that surrounded
the bowl and floor-diseased
ridden and disgusting.

The prideful rough-handed
worker of the past and present
are all but myths used to
keep all of the peasants
in line and complacent
within their immovable
station in order for
the white-collars on wall street
to become rich doing as little "work" as possible.
No man in a suit has ever done
a hard days work--can't be trusted.

There is no dignity in the stock trade
no dignity in politics and in marketing.
No dignity for anyone until
we are all equal and liberated
from the rat race of the economy.
