My Love

My Love

A Poem by StormyDixie

The gravel spins under that old truck.
The dust flies past,
The truck stops.
The darkness seeps in.

But wait,
What is that?
A splatter of light
Upon a face.

A face that has seen the worse,
But also the best.
A face that has cried,
But also laughed.
A face that has seen lust,
But also a heart that has been loved.

His heart,
His trust,
His laughter,
His peace,
Shattered.

Our 4 feet synchronize as 2.
The dirt, gravel, wood, all join us.
The space in between us is little.

The door handle turns,
We step into his home.
Not the ordinary house,
But it's perfect.
It's him. It's me. It's us.

He has is flaws,
But, oh my, he's perfect.
I feel wanted, loved, protected.

I wish those other ones never made me scared.
Gosh, I wish I could love him.
I want to love him.
Those other ones ruined me,
And now he has to save me.
