Doctor Erland's Flying CastleA Poem by SarahBased on a super weird dream I had.
On the day I turned sixteen
When impossible thinking was banned I looked around the room And watched the guests clap their hands I wasn't happy, if you couldn't tell In fact, I didn't really care You see, I was bored of life Sick of pretending and being proper everywhere And then, on that day That very strange day The guests stopped clapping As a man was walking my way He grabbed my hand and smiled "Madam, you look bored." Said he. His eyes were bright and green "Life is an adventure just waiting to be." Suddenly, they were gone All the guests and all the lights I was in a castle and it was flying Flying through the night His name was Doctor Erland And his castle was called The Stranger It was fueled by the power of wits And flew with the promise of danger Twenty six stories it stood almost invisible in the night sky "She goes any where you want to go." Doctor Erland said, "Just tell her where to fly." Together we flew to distant lands And my boredom and sadness was washed away As the promise and experience of adventure Was quick to lead me all the way On the day I turned twenty six When impossible thinking was all there was Doctor Erland died Said he, "Too many adventures, is the probable cause." "I give you The Stranger thats fueled by wits, It's my house, it's my dream, it's what makes me free. Remember, young lady, you are what you are And life is an adventure just waiting to be."
