To Stand AloneA Poem by SarahThe black sky rumbles; it's raining ashes, like snow flakes falling. The lightning crashes. Something foul is in the air. The rumbling turns to footsteps; the ashes dance. Closer, closer, closer; I have no chance. They are here. The pounding of the drums; the beating of my heart. Only I stand before them; my enemy from the start. A hand on my shoulder. The shaking of my hands stop. The ashes around me clear. "You are not alone." A voice says. A smile; my back up is here. To fight alone is to die alone. No one should die alone.
