The Money Train

The Money Train

A Poem by Sarah
"

Once you get on, you can't get off.

"

The Money Train

The clock ticks,

The phone rings,

The door opens,

It’s hinges sing.

The eyes blink,

The feet walk,

The heart pounds,

The mouth talks.

The whistle blows,

The train doors open,

Only to Close.

The Money Train has come for me.

The clock stops ticking,

The phone stops ringing,

The door slams shut,

The hinges are silent.

The eyes stare,

The feet are stuck,

The heart still pounds,

The mouth is dry.

The Money Train is passing by.

You're welcome to get on,

But you can’t get off,

The Money Train never stops.

I don't know exactly what The Money Train is. Ignore grammar problems. Apparently there is a movie called Money Train which this poem has nothing to do with.

This is pretty interesting that you say you don't know what the money train is. I'm going to bet that this was a streamlined writing where it just came out in the subconscious. Very interesting things come out this way. I always agree with suspending the sensory paths in the brain and just writing what comes to your head without thinking about it first. it's a very healthy thing to do, and can evoke an inner feeling or knowledge of something that would normally be transparent in our everyday lives.

Money being a train is something in itself a hidden truth that we don't always look at critically. Money is a large and powerful engine that fuels our necessities in life, but it can also be like a high speed locomotive smashing through an innocent mini van. it can destroy people in an instant. The line "but you can't get off / The money train never stops," is a very nice line. It is true of capitalist societies. You can never be free of money. I enjoyed this poem very much. Thanks.
