The Captain CallsA Poem by SarahDedicated to my fellow pirate, Bragg. Keep sailing, my friend! The
Captain Calls The eastern storms a-gathern’ The boy’s are bailin’ fast The captain’s standin’ leeward And the winds a-rippin’ past “Hold fast, me lads!” the captain calls “Better days ahead! For a pirates life is the only life for a man that’s courage bred! “Heave way the sea anchor! Get us a-goin’ fast Take in, turn too, me hearties ‘Cause we are goin’ to last!” The Anchor Watch, the Bosun’s Mate The Helmsman and the Master All look out for signs of hope As the ship picks up faster The wind was now at fifty knots But the storm would soon surpass The horizon showed a bright red beam And the crew was safe at last! “Hold fast, me lads!” the captain calls “Better days ahead! For a pirates life is the only life For a man that’s courage bred!” “Heave way the sea anchor! Get us a-goin’ fast Take in, turn too, me hearties ‘Cause we are goin’ to last!” © 2011 SarahAuthor's Note
