The One Who Had The Courage

The One Who Had The Courage

A Poem by StormeLight

She spoke up
In a crowd
Even though the voices
Were numbing and loud
She walked away
When the time was wrong
Even though it meant
She didn't ever belong
She lost her nerve one day
Couldn't keep going all alone
So she sacrificed herself
And everything she believe in
For the sake of lies
That would comfort her at night
"But, how long can I live the lie?"
She thought to herself
The day came
when lies were no longer
A comfort
Lost in her head
Spinning, spinning, spinning
Pining for solid ground
She found herself again
Then she met a version
Of the girl she used to be
In another person
The girl she used to be
Now she has the courage,
The courage to speak.

This is a beautiful poem. And, as a young girl(14 years old), this inspires me to speak up and to make a difference in a world where people assume teens aren't mature enough and don't know what they're talking about. Absolutely AMAZING!
