See Me

See Me

A Poem by StormeLight

Only allowed to see

Any part of me that is like you

Only seen in your own reflection

You don't mean to drown me

In the pain you so desperately

Refuse to see

I carry you with me

Even when I am all alone

I panic when we can't relate

Even though our bond is tainted

I love you more than you could imagine

Unequivocally, unconditionally

You want me to see you

In how I see myself

It doesn't ever matter

If I'm begging, crying, and screaming for help

I tried so hard for so long

For you to see me

A love so conditional

Affections on a pedestal

Wailing like a ghost behind a wall

Behind a mirror, transparent and everlasting

You see right through me, to you

How can I escape your reflection

So I can see myself clearly

So I can find myself this time

The person I love, so dearly

I've accepted now that you are broken

A wound that will take a revolution

And I can't make you see me

But now I will shatter the mirror
