Addiction

Addiction

A Poem by StormeLight

If you're waiting for life to get easier

You may not get the chance

We are digging our graves

With every hit we take

Just a few more times

Just to escape

Just so I can live to fight another day

While we drown each chance we could take

We have all the best reasons

Trying to make it through every season

Addiction doesn't care about our reasons

Everything we run from, just wants to keep running

Even though every second that passes

The clock is ever-ticking

It could be the end of the world as we know it

The ever-consuming hole

Will still find a way to destroy us

Don't wait to get sober

Because your world might stop turning

But every moment you wait

Has something to take

Listen to your inner voices

They are saying in every moment

"I just can't take this"

"Please, not another moment"

Sobbing with agony, and disappointment
