Dear Isolation

Dear Isolation

A Poem by StormeLight

For a long moment

I chose you

I took solace in you

You brought me comfort

You made me feel safe

I'm really starting to cave

Now you aren't a choice of mine

A way that I have to hide

To hide away, to stay safe

In a different way

It's been a year since I've felt human embrace

Why do you now feel like a cage?

I used to love you,

Dear Isolation,

Now I'm hanging on for dear life

Dear Isolation,

You aren't even human anymore

A monster I am trying to tame

Here you are to claim me

While you silently maim me

Dear isolation,

I can't tame you

All I can do is cry out

And hope that someone hears

My very silent cries

Inside my glass house

That will surely shatter

If I go another moment

Feeling like I don't matter
