A Chapter by Alicia_Skye

Star started shining brightly like she did when they were both younger, she had never travelled this fast before either but it felt great, she was smiling the whole time, speeding towards Earth. They hit Earth’s atmosphere and a loud bang went off as they broke the sound barrier, this made The Boy laugh.

“I think I’ll be noticed now Star!”

“You want to find the girl? You gotta get noticed Boy!” Star laughed aswell.

They spotted a large empty field. Star skidded to a stop a few meters off the ground, she didn’t want to crash into Earth and hurt her friend. Once he was firmly on the ground she told him to wait a safe distance with the trees.

“It’s been a pleasure knowing you Boy. Have a wonderful life, remember our story and share it with anyone who will listen.”

The boy hugged and kissed his best friend goodbye and waited with the trees.
Star shot back towards the direction they had came, then sped full speed towards Earth again, except this time she was losing her light and speed. By the time she crashed, she was star dust.

~~~
The Boy ran out from the cover of the trees and knelt beside the pile of star dust left by his old friend, he gathered the star dust up and put it in a jar. He left a moon rock he’d been saving in her place and walked away from the empty field.
He began walking down the street, little did he know he was being watched and followed by a young girl.  He heard footsteps behind him and turned around before the young girl could hide behind a tree again.
“Hello.” He said
“I knew you’d come back!” She said. The young girl was smiling.
“I’m sorry?”
“You don’t remember me do you?” She asked.
“Have we met before? You look familiar.” She did look familiar indeed.
“We met once, a long time ago, you promised me The Moon would be back in the sky once.”
“That was you?!” The Boy said excitedly.
The Young Girl nodded and The Boy gave her the jar of star dust. They started walking down the street together just as the sun was rising on a new day. He told her his story and how he’d always remembered her. She told him she never forgot him and kept an eye on the sky ever since the night they met.
They were married a few years later and had a son too.
And that’s the end of the story.”
“Did they live happily ever after?” John asked, he was starting to get tired, nearly falling asleep.
They did, you know I met someone once who told this story to me. He told me that everytime a storm blocks out the moon, that it’s cloud cover for the little boy to travel back up and check on ‘The Man On The Moon’.”
John’s father entered the room and sat on the foot of John’s bed, kissed him goodnight and said,
“And everytime you see a shooting star, that’s me coming back down to you.”
