A Little Girl PraysA Poem by KARENA little girl prays for her fathers safe return.
In the morning a little girl prays for a father gone to war, hands hold memories of him tossing her up high, and catching her in the saftey of his arms. His laughter echoes the room, and she wonders is he praying too? Tears are mirror images of his face, and she prays for his safe return.
In the afternoon hours a little girl prays, trying to drown out the silence of his empty chair. Fear gathers like dust, and voices from the news leaves her yearning for his butterfly kisses, and the warmth of a family reunited.
In the evening hours a little girl prays as she listens to her Mother's crying in the next room. War lives in the house and hearts of two people where peace once resided. A little girl lays her head down on a pillow of dreams, and prays for a father's safe return.
