Empty Christmas Of A Child's HeartA Poem by KARENWritten for the creative poetry group.
Downpour of emotions spill across a little boys face. Eyes gleam as he stares at the enormous tree. Embedded dreams of christmas causes his small chest to stiffen.
Vivid lights all sparkly blinks, giving him a sense of excitement. An elflike giggle sneaks past the boys lips as he thinks of jolly Santa Claws. Visions of candy canes and race cars dance in his head, along with a new bike and maybe a video game.
A racket outside makes his heart thump. Has Santa come while he's up? Feet frozen to the floor, he prays as he watches the door.
Dread makes his wee body shake, tears fall down his face. Mom and Dad appear, he realizes christmas will be just like last year.
He takes one last look under the empty tree. Slowly he goes back to his bed. He dreams of candy canes and race cars, a new bike and maybe a video game.
But most of all he dreams of a Mom and Dad to love him.
