Realities died long ago,

buried with his beloveth wife.

Challenging fears and loneliness

beat where his heart once was.

Foundation for living crumbles at his feet.

He balances between living and dying,

a journey that seems inevitable.

Blossoming memories and gentle smile

lights the way to the catacombs

where he will reunite with her radiant beauty.

Estuary of emotions overflow

as he enters his final resting place.

A  warm glow causes him to perspire.

Feeling uncanny he falls to his knees.

A vision of loveliness appears.

Superstitious doubts corner him,

blocking his way to her side.

Endearing expression touches him.

Eyes full of pride speak to him,

telling him that his time has not come.

Hopelessness washes over him

as he reaches for her.

He cries,

and still balances between living and dying,

a journey that seems inevitable.

Sad, but you did a grat job capturing the emotion. As always, your imagery sells the work!

Masterful imagery. It was like walking through your dream. I found it hard not to emotionally invest myself into this piece. It pulled me right in. I felt every word.

You captured the pain very well, I felt it for sure. Nicely done.

This is sad and heart wrenching. It is not your time yet. Great line as well as balance between living and dying. You have made this scene come to life and I could picture it clearly in my mind.

This is really good writing. The deep sadness in this is profound. How awful to lose someone you love and only wish to be with them still.

Very sad and tragic. For some, its just impossible to be left behind. Others just live in pain the rest of their life. Nicely done!
