Alone In The Woods

Alone In The Woods

A Poem by KAREN

Noises creep all around

Footsteps crunch on fallen leaves

An owl beckons his call in the darkness

Whispers of a deep voice filters the air

Bare trees sends a prickling chill

Shadows lurk behind the stillness

Splendor of the woods has become eerie

A scream sounds from her own voice

The full moon hides itself

Movement moves closer

Gripping fear rises like the thick fog

Claws snag her dress

Wet tonuge licks her lips

Red eyes burn through the darkness

Panic overpowers her

Her face turns ghostly

Weak voice begs for mercy

Laughter echoes

costume falls to the ground

Boyfriend hugs her

Grilfriend gives a hard slap

And leaves him in the woods

A creature wanders in the distance

You had me at "Woods." Being the nature boy that I am I HAD to read it. I like it. Very visual. Awesome ;)

There is definitely something lurking in the recesses of her mind, whether real or fantasy, she is scared! Look deep into the picture prompt and you can feel the fear inside. Excellent poem with superb imagery!

I thought that this was a good write, kind of dark around the edges, but well worded. I like dark poetry, and this made my mind wander as to what the creature was and whether it was real of a fantasy.

That fright was a little too much for her to handle. Can't help but wonder if something really lethal is going to get him. A delightful yet sinister Halloween poem.
