Razor Sharp Words

Razor Sharp Words

A Poem by KAREN

I am the sponge,

your words are liquid

soaking my soul with everlasting pain.

Love has lost its sheen.

Arms are like glass cutting me little by little,

theres no warmth left.

I am the gasoline,

your words are fire

kindling up old memories,

blistering my already dead heart.

Serenity has run dry.

Peace no longer lingers in our lives.

I am an open wound,

your words are salt

pouring over me,

and sprinkling my body with fear.

Our home is no longer a safe haven,

it is the gates of hell.

I am the dart board,

your words are the darts

piercing me to the very core.

My blood cries for mercy.

My bones cry for healing.

My heart cries for your love.

I am the wife,

and you are my husband.

There is nothing left to be said,

but you will find a clean knife

and soon cut me again.

This is so passionate and powerful storiestotell, it hurts
Your use of metaphors are perfectly imbedded and painful to read. Your imagery to describe the pain and hurt are vividly descriptive and poignantly. I truly loved the write stt, just not the words of the message. It is not easy to be this candid and honest. You've pulled it off masterfully.
Thank you for sharing.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and lived with both of my parents. Nicely written.

I didn't just feel the emotion in this, I saw it aswell. We see this everyday in our human lives. Such discordia. Very good write though [:

the vulnerability is sad. i'm always uncertain about victims in emotional relationships. it seems that people must invite others into their hearts and minds. and sometimes it turns out to be a big mistake for the hosts. kick the bums out and go on with one's life, even if licking one's wounds as the door slams. the work is emotionally powerful and captures a soul's that's being defeated. but it doesn't have to be so.

The effects of verbal abuse are long lasting.
This poem made me relive my own nightmare.
It's a very real experience this poem is.
Great job.

A poem that open the doors to many question and sadness. Words can destroy a life and leave it in turmoil. The ending was strong and true. Some people have no kindness and don't see the damage being done. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Intense!!! Could almost feeling the cutting harshness. Brilliant terrible capture of a relationship gone wrong.
