What Is That She Hears?A Poem by KARENShe walks the summery path once shared by two lovers. Swelling tides of anguish radiates within. Fingers out line the names carved in the oak tree. Wind whispers his mane. What is that she hears?
Inspiration to live died when he left her standing at the alter of fake vows. Reflections in the brook sends memories of him rippling out of reach. Heart pounds out his name. What is that she hears?
She sits in a bed of wild flowers where love making once was shared. Mind is a tunnel of neverending sorrow. The gentle breeze caress her like the soft touch of his hand. Sky blankets her with the deep blueness of his eyes. Birds chirp his name. What is that she hears?
Rain begins to fall, stings of emptiness hit her in the face. Thunder roars beyound the forest. Lightning flashes his face before her eyes. Stormy weather racks her insides. Tree frogs croak out his name. What is that she hears?
Thick fog rises around her symbolizing her melancholy mood. Rainbow of fading colors arc above her. Night creatures cry out his name. What is that she hears?
Night falls, surrounding a lonely soul. Full moon reveals the future like a crystal ball. A life of nothingness covers her like the darkness. Wolfs howl out his name. What is that she hears.
She walks the summery path once shared by two lovers. A deep noise emerges from within. What is that she hears? That's her laughing, to keep from crying.
