A Place To Belong

A Place To Belong

A Poem by KAREN
"

When living in this world becomes over powering!

"

Her brain is a scale tilting

from side to side.

Weight of fear hangs

low like clouds in the sky.

Weakness from days to come

flow through her veins

in the place of her crimson blood.

Confusion leaves a bitter taste.

Life has over taken her mind.

The world as she knows it

causes her to feel gauche.

She wonders where she fits in?

Who she is?

And who does she want to be?

Plain, simple and unknown

crash her personality.

Everyday the track she takes

is disappointing and makes her addle.

She lives like a blind person,

never knowing where she is.

She's lost and longs to be found.

As she looks into her mirror

of tomorrows future

reflections of better days appear.

She makes a covenant

with her inner self to be

teasured, loved and to belong

in a world that has become a

stranger to her.

Avid that she can change

her breathing becomes easy.

Pressure evaporates into

yesterdays that cannot return.

Her low self esteem packed up,

and a new her unwrapped.

She vavles to be adamance,

never return to broken dreams.

Fueled with a new ego

she's ready to live.

Note printed in her heart,

to remind her tomorrow

is another day.

I have felt this overwhelming life.. fight it still every now and then... This is a richly painted wonder of pain, and finding the courage to rise above.

Expressing feelings such as this can be very healing. Many people have also felt these same emotions. Life is a challenge and can wear you down at times. You asked one of the most important questions in life -"who she is?" who am I? You are alive, visit an old folks home or hospital and it will make you appreciate legs and arms that are strong! Organs within your body that function! Being thankful for what you have can give you a sense of how fortunate you are. Vocalize it.
Ask for information about your parents and grandparents. Find out your families
journey, values and goals. This will give you direction. Sometimes we forget our own power-we have the choice to love ourselves -value and take care of emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs. Life is sacred!

I think it is important to ponder the question of who we are. If we don't know who we are how can we find our place in this world? It is difficult to love ourselves in this crazy world but we must do it anyway. An inspirational poem.

This is more like a short story, and I must say
it drew me in from the first few lines. Strong
writing indeed...

I know at times I have looked in the mirror and wondered who I was. What had happened to the person I use to be. I love the ending of this poem. It is uplifting and tomorrow is a new day in which we have a fresh start.

Wonderful! Love the inner dialogue, its where we all spend most of our time. We hear her struggle and resolve to change for the better. It will be a struggle but well worth it in the end. I enjoyed reading this very much.
