Living In Black

Living In Black

A Poem by KAREN
"

All about death!

"

Burden of living spirals

about like a winding road.

Life is seen through shades

of commitment,

blinding the pleasure to live.

Existence is full of fear.

Dreaming neon black,

death is my passion,

my survival.

Deconstruction is drowning me.

Blackness is my reflection.

Wavelengths of colors refracting.

Death's rainbow is near,

causing images to flash.

Mind is a colorful firework

of imagery.

Impending death is approaching.

Overwhelming pain grips the soul.

Presence of light all around.

Dream-like visions dance about.

Death is my friend

while serenity is the enemy.

The end is welcoming.

Time has no place,

the clock has stopped.

I soar beyond the dreaming,

death looming closer,

filling me with

nothingness.

Powerful words, good imagery

I was a little puzzled by the exchange "Overwhelming peace grips the soul", followed by "Serenity is the enemy". There were several instances of seeming contradictions, but upon reflection, you might be saying that your own feelings about death are conflicted, which then explains them all. Interesting approach.

A interesting poem. Few people welcome death. I saw only one person who knew death was coming. He tries to make us feel better. He did not fear the next step. My Grandfather knew he did his best and was going to a better place. I like the pace and the desire of the poem. I like the ending. I hope there is a better place for us to go. A outstanding poem. You made a hard topic to write about seem less fearful.

Dreaming dark for sure. Powerful, burdened, troubled as your soar across a space that is no more. Loved it!

There is such desperation here... the fear of living... the longing for timelessness... You create that sense of burning transcendence.
