Candy Seasons

Candy Seasons

A Poem by KAREN
"

Alittle sweetness to go alone to fill your days!

"

Wandering mind take me away,

over arc of  rainbow,

where flowers bloom into gum drops.

Pink cotton candy blankets tree tops.

Sweet taffy butterflies fly about.

Lemonade sun splatters down.

 Winds laughter brings in spring.

Wandering mind take me away,

where the sea never ends.

Powder sugar beaches lay about,

and lollipop umbrellas twirl around.

Gummi fish in assorted colors swim

underneath the koolaid sea.

 Whistling wind sends in summer.

Wandering mind take me away,

where nature smells like cinnamon sticks.

Starburst fill the sky,

spilling liquid sparkles.

Wild berry lifesavers grow on bushes.

Tree tops are filled with skittle leaves.

 Wind blows in fall.

Wandering mind take me away,

over the rocky mountain tops,

where marshmellow snow drifts

in cold frigid air.

Chocolate bark trees dripping down,

making a smooth chocolate fall,

warmth of the sun heating it

into a pool of hot coco.

Wind howls as winter shivers in.

Wandering mind take me away.....

I really like this entire poem, but this single line took my breath away: "The wind howls as winter shivers in." It's the kind of line I wish I'd written.

I do have a couple of nits. Small ones. If it were me, I would eliminate many of the article in the work - "the" and "a" more often than not. For example, "over the arc of a rainbow" would become "over arc of rainbow," and "The winds laughter brings in spring" becomes "Wind's laughter brings in spring."

For me, dropping out articles gives more power to the words, more urgency. Don't get me wrong. This is delicious work no matter what. I really like the poem.

Dang it! Now I've got to go pilfer in the pantry and see what sweeties I can find. I know there were Skittles in there a while back. I'm laughing as I write this, you know.

A beautifully formed confection of otherwordly delights, I'd be intrigued and excited to visit. Thank you for allowing my mind to wander, I needed to take a moment and you have delivered.
