What's In The Heart?

What's In The Heart?

A Poem by KAREN

Hatred gnawing vessels,

leaving pools of anger,

causing hollowness through and through.

Sadness flowing like an crimson red river

through every vein and pore,

beading up into tears of sorrow.

Pain slicing like blades,

cutting all lines to fulfillment,

leaving thick emptiness behind.

Happiness welling up the frown,

twisting it into laughter,

spilling joyful music through the lips.

Joy exploding like fire crackers,

in the depths of a soul,

sparking flashes of excitement into the air.

Peace quietly swimming around,

relaxing and calming every nerve,

filling all holes of loneliness.

Comfort sweeping out all bitterness,

sorrow, and anger,

leaving the greatest of all,

love.

Love pumping with the beating rhythm,

fighting away  impurities,

leaving nothing but healthy habits.

What's in the heart?

You explore and see

what you find.

Pain, regardless of what form it comes in, can be a release of sorts, where one pain overpowers and dull another. Sounds to me, like just such a pain has struck, and brought with it a brief peace. Interesting piece. Thought provoking, even.

I believe sometime we must decide to celebrate being alive or cry in our beer. I did both many times. I like the set-up and the questions you create with this poem.
'What's in the heart?
You explore and see
what you find."
A outstanding poem. Thank you.

"Love pumping with the beating rhythm,

fighting away impurities,

leaving nothing but healthy habits "

-- i love this stanza. it clearly states what true love can do to you. not anger, not loneliness, ut pure peace and happiness. :)

I'm a little squeamish with blood and stuff. It's great but I got a little squeamish.
