Day By Day

Day By Day

A Poem by KAREN
"

what will happen next?

"

Yesterday was.......

blissful like chimes blowing in the fall breeze.

Or taking a walk at twilight,

the sun giving off soft hazy light.

Laughter spilling over like an broken dam.

Array of flowers sprouting along the narrow grassy path.

                             Prosperous

                             Safe

                              Happy

Yesterday was cherished.

Today is........

destructive like a tornado sucking away happiness.

Going under water for the thrid time, gasping for air.

Rain hitting me in the face,

feeling like needles.

Encircled by enemies,

staring evil and wickedness my way.

                             Scary

                              Sad

                              Ugly

Today is a nightmare

Tomorrow will be........

prosperous, no worries about providing for my family.

Safe from all the ugliness of the world.

Happy  just being me.

Scary,  finding myself without a job.

Sad, the one I love is taken from me.

Ugly, all the unfriendly people in my life  are ganging up on me.

Life is short, live for  all the days of your life,

and live it to the fullest.

A Harriesville marvel. I love the way it swings too and fro. Elated ; depressed! Life in the raw and well written. I hear Mary Tyler Moore reading this and feel the subject is like a coil spring or an asp ready to strike. Good work indeed.

I am sure about this. Its great. I say that aloud with my hands raised because I got excited and felt like whispering into your ear..Oh, Beautiful piece..
First of, Wow !! for your format, Yesterday, today and Tomorrow connected in a piece..
Second, What writing !! Look at yesterday..Laughter spilling over like an broken dam. It was amazingly beautiful..classic old world poetry..Today was dark and you said it well
Tomorrow was about hope in despair, strength amonst weakness and love among hate..It's the best part of the poem and I believe the best time of your life because we believe we can..Oh stories to tell. you indeed have "stories to tell"..Smile :-)

great poem! i like how you have structured this one. its different, and when you single out the words:
"Prosperous
Safe
Happy" and
"Scary
Sad
Ugly"
it really emphasises those feelings and is effective. another good write!
