This Is The Day

Make up your mind to like who you are!

My face is sullen

I feel weak,

shunned by everyone

 

Each day I condemn my soul

for I know I am worthless

I grovel in my  own self pity

 

My esteem is low, almost empty

I expose myself to disapproving eyes daily

life is destroying me little by little

 

I want to like myself,

be someone I'm proud of,

not be afraid to speak

 

AND I decided this is the day,

I will look at myself differently

I will stand up for me

I will love me

 

AND I decided this is the day,

you won't make me feel bad

you are out of my life

you never loved me anyway

 

AND I decided this is the day,

everyone can accept me or not

everyone can love me or not

everyone can be proud of who I am or not

 

BECAUSE this is the day,

I found me

this poem is the definition of powerful! i love this! so many people have suppressed themselves to the point that they don't want to find themselves anymore because others have rejected them. this is something i think everyone needs to read. we all need to push aside the useless idiotic judgments of the world around us and truly be who we were born to be and who we want to be. Only one minor spelling error that I noticed, but it didn't distract from the message, or the poem..
Third stanza. second line.. disapproval should read "disapproving"
I think you could generate more punch by saying.. disapproving eyes daily.
