Years In The MakingA Poem by Eli Blayze"Spoken Poetry" An assignement for Creative Writing Class. About someone special <3Have you ever had one of those moments? One where you just stop and think, “Wow.” Like there is nothing else in the world, But what you see there, right in front- Of you. When everything suddenly stops like, Time has frozen. Everything seems so right. Have you ever had one of those moments? One where, you’re thinking of someone. Walk in the room, and there they are. Like, the fates are playing poker, And your card was their winning hand. It was meant to be. When everything suddenly stops like, Time has frozen. Everything seems so- Right. Have you ever had one of those moments? Where you feel yourself falling for someone, Someone you know would never- Even look at you that way. When they light up the room as They walk in. Smiling at you, Their beauty like no other. But then, that fantasy of you and them, Gets taken away, the truth Pulls you miles a part You know you’ll never be Together. Have you ever had one of those moments? When you’re all alone for six months, New school, new people, no friends, no socialization, But still thinking of that one person, Who despite everything, you cannot forget. You try to move on, but everything- Reminds you of them- and you can’t seem to fill That void & you realize you don’t want too. When you give it one last shot, to forget them, Just to find out you’re moving back, to where you met them. Have you ever had one of those moments? One where, You just want to end it all; Nothing Can save you… The day drags on, you’re ready to go that night, But then it happens. The fates, Are playing poker again. It’s that moment, One year later… When that someone runs up You share an innocent, Friendly hug, And secretly, You wish it to be so much more. The immense feelings that flood your mind, Suddenly life seems so worth living, because Of their smile. And then, a little birdie tells you, That that someone likes you. So you build- The courage to ask for a chance. And they say yes. Have you ever had one of those moments? One where you look back to see, Everything happens for a reason, This thing was truly meant to be. Because, love is stronger than all else, And when two people are meant to be, The fates, Will play poker, and they always win. Even if they lose a few hands, You’ll end up with the jackpot, The winning hand, Like me. © 2013 Eli BlayzeAuthor's Note
