We Explore Our Island

We Explore Our Island

A Poem by Stone Fox

Without Night, Day had been humid and hellishly hot.
Everyone loudly saluted what was to be the rising moon now absent from the sky.
The Night sky usually decorated with stars, coments, and the bright Moon became things of myth, only to be blindly replaced by a bright sky missing the biggest star of all-the Sun.

I heard daybreak approaching in the quiet intervals while the children armored up to meet their slumber.
It was plain the fate of our nature and country:

We were stranded-trapped.
Living a never ending day only

to vividly remember the night.
