Broke

Broke

A Poem by Himani Jayas

I was hurt
when you said
we are bizzare and broke.
But you were right
we are.
We are no Elizabeth and Darcy
Neither Chandler and Monica
Like you said
Broke
We are.
But aren't we like
Emma and Adèle
Desolate, Anguished,
Indigent, Shattered
But in love
Aren't we?
We can love each other
To a great extreme
But can't stay together
Like sun and moon.
And like she said
Didn't we have
An infinite tenderness
Towards each other?
We can fight like
Two wild animals
But can't resist
Each other for a single day
Isn't it what love is?
when you started
Missing someone
Like a piece of you.
aren't we like
two poles of magnet
Repeling
But inextricable,
Inseparable we are
So don't say we are Broke
Because everyone else is too.
We are more and
Maybe that's why we're different.
