The Delicacies of Pain

The Delicacies of Pain

A Poem by Joanna Maharis
"

The Delicacies of Pain

"
Shall I remember your dawning with pleasure,
Or do you prefer that I succumb to the delicacies of pain.
Either way the river flows, I’m so shackled in its muddy waters.
Your seed has been planted within my soul,
And now comes the birth of another fire
That soars high into the black sky
With an everlasting hunger filled with the desire
To burn me down until I am nothing but ash to ash
And dust to dust.

there is indeed a fine line between things that bring joy and things that bring ache...so often they blur and this poem illuminates that blur

Very poignant. I love the imagery, especially the river/being shackled in its muddy waters. I also like the last line very much! To me it sounds like this is written about the pain of an all-consuming love? That's what it meant to me anyway. I really enjoyed reading this, and have read it over a few times :) x

Sometimes we do things that brings guilt in ourselves, the feeling of it is a blow to our spirit, but it gauge us in every road we are taking. It is alright to go astray without our knowledge, the warning signs that our inner judge condemns us of our doing pave to the way of righteousness. WE are mortal still to choose from pleasure that brings guilt, or to pain that gives blessing to the soul. Either way, we learn as ourselves condemned by the inner judge that haunt us in time immemorial!
Keep it up! keep on writing!

i got to learn lessons from you!
