The Roaring Bite of Achilles

The Roaring Bite of Achilles

A Poem by Joanna Maharis
"

This is a story about an individual who take solace in the heavens, and wishes to wipe out her suffering with God's soothing breath.

"
In the coming hours of the night
I can feel the roaring bite of Achilles
As his mighty sword pierces my wounded heart.
I serve you, mighty master of the skies
With the sweetest wines of passionate waves.
Long are my stipend days with their bitter herbs
That surround my torn body.
For I wish to beseech the mightiest King of all kings
With song and dance in homage of the purest light
That burns up the sky with crimson fever.
Many have come to your sacred grounds to worship
Your haven of glory,
But I come to singe your tyrant hairs
With my burning breaths of fire,
And take my humble place up in the trembling clouds
When both our lips are parted for the somber embrace.
