Trails of TearsA Poem by Joanna MaharisThis piece is about man breaking free from the bondage of his own desires.Heart that beats inside the melodic riverbed, he mesmerizes my soul with enchanting rhythms the pebbles make when he tosses them into your sensual body. I wade within this mass that has created unforeseen trails of tears that accentuate his somber eyes. The great owl belonging to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war, whispers cryptic satire in my strident ears. For these are the vindication of cost and reward. Sweet rays of sunlight caress my cold flesh with their penetrating stare, and consecrate all who dance naked in the sacred waters of heaven. His smile is the warm embrace that surrounds my tortured heart with white light. It submerges deep into the star that dwells within my mystic voice box. When the thunder erupts in aphonic voices, her fire shall burn the sum who persist in rearranging the Lord's body that resides inside her icy spirit. Loosen the reigns, I say, and tear down these walls of folly you so parade your slumbering disease has become you in your shackles, ball, and chain. © 2009 Joanna MaharisAuthor's Note
