Primacy of Consciousness

Primacy of Consciousness

A Poem by 'stiltskin

As age draws on I see cause and effect
in realms of life that some might neglect.
For years I sought my answers without -
with no solutions, I started to doubt.

I turned first to god, the father and son
to see if they knew what should be done.
I listened to preachers with plenty of shout
but the look in their eye was far from devout.

I turned away, condemned and hell sent
and gave my attention a sciency bent.
I looked to the cosmos and into the atom -
they both looked the same and I started to fathom.

Perhaps I was putting the cart before horse
and the brain is not the source of all thought.
What if my mind is not made of stuff
but truly the Light that comes from above?

"But this makes no sense" my ego declared
"shake yourself man you're making me scared."
"From whence then" said I "the hues in the park
when my optic nerve is stuck in the dark?"

You face a conundrum when riding a photon
if time slows down with acceleration.
Never to know the absolute noumenon,
your only experience is inner phenomenon.

Now I look for my answers within,
knowing I'm not just brain brawn and skin.
I think I may have understood finally -
Consciousness is probably primary.

This is a great piece! The first parts were the most interesting, so you have to look more into the later parts and see what can be done to make them better; starting from 'You face a conundrum when riding a photon'
