A Warrior's Lament

A Warrior's Lament

A Poem by ALiteRead

when once again
I've found my friend
and together we share what's new

I thank my stars
as I've traveled far
I have a friend like you

for with my friend
time and again
I find we do agree

on many things
and what life means
it's eye to eye we see

arm in arm
at risk of harm
together we shall go

into the night
we go to fight
against our common foe

but if the end
does come my friend
still sweet it's taste will be

for I've laughed and lived
and fought and loved
beside a friend like thee

I could read this poem over and over again and still delight in how the words roll of my tongue. What a skilled poet you are.

Well and simply said, A.

Much of the bravery demonstrated in battle is based on these very sentiments.
I can't help but love this little poem.

Tight rhymes that flowed quickly as i read through, a joy to read and a joy for any friend to read :-)

Wonderful Judy, it is those trying and true moments that matter in the end no matter how good or bad life has treated you, when you have had someone along your side for the ride it is the best memories to taste. Lovely poem!

A very light and tasteful piece, "but if the end
does come my friend
still sweet it's taste will be"
This is my favourite lining, a striking prose, well done.
