Life Is Good

Life Is Good

A Poem by ALiteRead

sun is up I think
hard to tell
light fog hanging low
looking out over the water
watching gentle waves
lapping onto the rocks of the jetty
sitting, listening, being
enjoying the sites and sounds
of life on the waterfront
i can hear the waves
slowly advancing and retreating
the wind blowing flags and sails
on the boats moored nearby
the pitiful cries of gulls
looking for a scrap to eat
damp chill in the air
too cool for shirtsleeves
salt smell in the air
occasional odor of fish
barking from the sea lions
playing on the buoy
wind is fresh
boat is rocking
coffee is hot
life is good

I love those days at the ocean on the Monterey coastline in the Winter. Few people and quiet. I like the poem. You took me back to good days when a warm cup of coffee and the sea was pleasure. A outstanding poem.

Oh what a gorgeous poem. I feel like I can step write into it; you've painted this scene so well. I love the sea and this just makes me want to be there even more. Thank you for such a beautiful poem with lovely images. Definitely a favorite.

I can see the picture in my head, sitting there enjoying the coffee. Life is indeed good ; )

Lovely! I have lived all my life near gulls and their evocative cries, I can smell the salt and hear the stays slapping in this poem x

So authentic, I actually feel refreshed!
All five senses were stimulated. This word-arrangement operates very much like a hi-tech hologram. Ali brought the dream to life.
Remarkable.

I felt like a gull, who perched on your mast, witnessing the feel of your morning in all its pleasantries.

Great Write!
